What We Offer
The house is surrounded by woods and farmland, and has a deep sense of calm. Open, spacious and ever-changing, the landscape unfolds across a four-hectare estate of meadows, a pond, woodland and open fields, offering room to wander, observe and breathe. Life here moves at a gentle pace.
The immediate environment is a constant source of inspiration. Originally built in the 17th century, the house retains a strong connection to its history, while the surrounding countryside remains largely untouristic and quietly expansive throughout the year.
Maison les Buis is equipped to support a wide range of creative practices. Facilities include a light-filled painter’s studio with work tables, easels and generous wall space; a flexible semi-open workshop suitable for stone, dye or wood work; and a dedicated indoor space for yoga and embodied practice. During the summer months, the grounds can also be adapted for outdoor performances. A selection of raw materials, including metal, stone, wood and fabric, is available, along with essential hand tools, a workbench, brushes and a sewing machine. This is a place to arrive slowly, unwind, settle in, and allow ideas to germinate and unfold.
Residencies at Maison les Buis also offer opportunities for shared experiences with fellow residents, from collaborative art projects to long meals enjoying local cuisine, and relaxed outings to nearby flea markets.
Tarot Games
For centuries, Tarot cards have inspired artists, mystics and storytellers alike. Rich in symbolism, this ancient source of wisdom offers a playful and reflective way to explore ideas, spark creativity, and get to know yourself a little better. We have a great selection of Tarot decks for guests to experiment with, whether as a source of artistic inspiration, quiet reflection, or simple curiosity. Used lightly or more intuitively, Tarot invites a gentle conversation with imagination and inner knowing.
Yoga & Meditation
Creative ideas often surface when we give ourselves space to slow down and listen inwardly. Mindfulness helps create that space, and yoga is one of the ways we support this process. When there’s interest, we come together for relaxed group sessions in a dedicated space in the rustic 18th-century tower above the painting studio. It’s a quiet room that feels slightly apart from the rest of the house, making it an easy space to unwind, focus and reconnect in.
“Maison Les Buis is like Rivendell, the magical home of the elves, that brings peace and health to the weary. ”
